What can I expect when I come to therapy? You can expect to be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. You may feel a range of emotions about coming for therapy - particularly if this is your first time engaging with a mental health service, or if you have had negative experiences in the past. Whatever you may be feeling, know that this is normal and that we will be there to support you through the process. What we discuss will be kept private and confidential and you will not be judged. At the first session, we will aim to build a relationship with you so that you feel comfortable working with us. We will ask questions in order to find out more about your problem but will do so at your pace. Together, we will collaboratively identify goals for our work together and a plan for working towards them. We aim for you to leave feeling a little less burdened, and with a sense of hope for the future.
-
Do I need a referral to access your services?Referrals are not required to make an appointment. However, a referral letter from your GP combined with a Mental Health Care Plan will give you access to Medicare rebates which can cover a significant portion of the fee when accessing psychological therapy.
-
What is the fee for accessing therapy? You can be refunded for a significant portion of the fee if you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Click here for more information. Individual therapy with a Registered Psychologist: $210 per 50 minute session. If you have a MHCP then you are entitled to a rebate of $96.65 per session, leaving you with a gap payable of $113.35. Individual therapy with a Clinical Psychologist: $250 per 50 minute session. If you have a MHCP then you are entitled to a rebate of $141.85, leaving you with a gap payable of $108.15. These fees are well below the Australian Psychological Society’s schedule of recommended fee of $311. If you have reached your Medicare threshold then you may be eligible to receive up to 90% of the fee in a rebate.
-
How do I get access to a Mental Health Care Plan?Book an extended appointment with your GP (including via telehealth) Talk to your GP about your current difficulties. They may ask you further questions. Request a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral to see one of our psychologists. Ask them for a copy of both the MHCP and referral letter or request that they send it directly to us via email admin@elevateadelaide.com.au or fax 08 8125 3801. Book an appointment to see us and bring a copy of the referral letter and MHCP if the GP has not sent it to us. Also bring any other relevant information such as previous reports.

No matter what the nature or purpose of the assessment you'll be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. The information gathered will be kept private and confidential. Where are reports are being prepared for the courts or other third parties, we will explain these limits of confidentiality to you. If you use glasses or hearing aids, please ensure that you bring these to the session. If you have any past assessments or reports, please also bring these. We can provide a translating service if required; please let us know at the time of making your appointment if this is required.
-

What if I have to cancel or reschedule an appointment? We understand that life sometimes gets in the way and you may not be able to attend your scheduled appointment. If this happens, please contact us as soon as possible to make alternative arrangements - we can offer your session via telehealth or reschedule if required. It is important to give at least 48 hours notice when rescheduling or cancelling to ensure the appointment time can be given to someone else. This helps minimise waiting times for other clients. Cancelled or rescheduled appointments with 24-48 hours notice will incur half of the payable fee. Instances where less than 24 hours notice is given or where you do not attend your appointment will require payment of the full fee. Please note that Medicare rebates are not available for cancellation fees.
-
What is the waiting time for accessing services? As we are a growing practice, we have limited waiting times. Depending on your schedule, appointments are available within the next two to four weeks.
